Google Buys Android.com

BusinessWeek reports that Google's latest acquisition is Android.com. Android apparently makes software for cell phones. BusinessWeek quotes a 2003 interview where co-founder Andy Rubin states "there was tremendous potential in developing smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner's location and preferences."

It will be interesting to see how Android.com fits in with Dodgeball, which is another recent acquisition from May 2005. Dodgeball operates a mobile social networking services where users can use SMS on their cell phones to find where there friends are hanging out.
